KOMPOSISI DAN KELIMPAHAN MEROPLANKTON SEBAGAI PLASMA NUTFAH SUMBERDAYA PERIKANAN DI PERAIRAN MUARA UPANG, SUMATERA SELATAN
The water of Muara Upang, located in Banyuasin, South Sumatra, are thought to be a nursery area for meroplankton to be used as germplasm for fisheries resources because it has a mangrove ecosystem. This study aims to identify the types of meroplankton, analyze the composition and abundance of meroplankton and analyze the potential of meroplankton as a fishery resource germplasm in the waters of Muara Upang. Meroplankton samples were taken in August 2020, The Samples taken were zooplankton samples and measured the water quality of chemical and physic parameters. The compotition of types of meroplankton found consisted of 7 types from the meroplankton group and 5 types from the holoplankton group.The meroplankton groups are Polychaete, Gastropoda, Shrimp Larvae,Naples,Fish Larva, Crab Zoea, Bivalvia. The highest composition of meroplankton abundance found was Polychaete, namely 55% as much as 25,099 ind / mᵌ and the lowest was fish larvae, namely 1% as much as 470 ind / mᵌ. Meroplankton groups found in the waters of Muara Upang can be used as potential capture fisheries areas because several meroplankton groups are found can be used as germplasm for fishery resources.
