ANALISIS SEMIOTIKA REPRESENTASI DISKRIMINASI SOSIAL PADA PRIBUMI DALAM FILM “BUMI MANUSIA”
The film “Bumi Manusia” is an Indonesian historical biographical drama film that focuses on the social realities of Indonesian society during the colonial period of European colonialism. The purpose of this study was to determine the semiotics of representation of social discrimination in the film "Bumi Manusia" by Hanung Bramantyo. In this study, the constructivism paradigm was used. The researcher uses Roland Barthes' semiotic theory and qualitative approach with descriptive method. Data collection techniques used in this research are documentation, observation, and literature study. The results of this study explain that in some scenes in the film there are denotations, connotations, and myths that contain elements of social discrimination. Based on the description of the results of the research and the discussion that has been explained, the conclusion is that in several scenes in the film there is discrimination in the form of slavery, injustice committed by Europeans against natives, physical violence, labeling of natives who are likened to an animal, and the application of the application of laws created by European governments to limit the rights that indigenous peoples should have.
