The presence of film as one of the mass media has become one of the element that influence the era development including the social issues in the society. Imperfect Film is directed by Ernest Prakasa tell us about how body shaming issue or physically humiliating representation in society which provides a certain experience for the audience who watched it. The methodology of this research is descriptive qualitative with Stuart Hall’s audience reception analysis. Audience reception analysis is focused on audience reception on codes that delivered by the media and the audience will be categorized as three positions are dominant readings, negotiated readings, and oppositional readings. Audience on reception analysis known as active producer of meaning which they aren’t only consumed the contents of media yet as the meanings creator. The results show that theres none informan on oppositional readings position because all of them agreed with various aspect on Imperfect film in reflecting the body shaming issue.
