The goal of this research is to identify representations of Minangkabau cultural values in Liam and Laila film and describe their implications in learning Indonesian subject in high school. This study is a qualitative study with descriptive methods and analyzed using the semiotics theory model of Charles Sanders Pierce in the form of icons, indexes, and symbols. The source of this data found from Liam and Laila film that directed by Arief Malinmudo which aired in 2018. The results of this study are in the form of seven data that contain signs or meanings of Minangkabau cultural symbols regarding wedding customs, traditional houses, tourist attractions, and rules that must be lived when marrying Minang people. This research has implications for learning Indonesian in high school in Basic Competence (KD) 3.19 class XI. Therefore, this research can be used as a reference for similar research and can be used by teachers in learning Indonesian especially in KD 3.19 class XI.
