PENGARUH VARIASI HOLDING TIME DAN MEDIA PENDINGIN PADA PROSES HARDENING TERHADAP UJI KEKERASAN BAJA AISI 1045
Hardening is a heat treatment of steel to increase the hardness of steel. There are several things that affect the mechanical properties of steel in the heat treatment process such as holding time and cooling media. Hardness test is the most effective test to test the hardness value of a material after the hardening process. This research is an experimental research type. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of the hardness of AISI 1045 steel which was hardened using variations of holding time and cooling media. Holding time is 10 minutes using water cooling media, holding time is 20 minutes using oil cooling media, and holding time is 30 minutes using air cooling media. The results showed that the hardness value of the specimen without hardening was 207.4799 HV. Specimens with holding time for 10 minutes experienced the highest increase of 697.4134 HV, specimens with holding time for 20 minutes resulted in a hardness value of 264.7898 HV, and specimens with holding time for 30 minutes obtained a hardness value of 243, 3497 HV. So, the holding time and cooling media in the hardening process affect the hardness value of AISI 1045 steel.
