POTENSI ENDOFIT DAN BUKAN ENDOFIT ISOLATISOLAT JAMUR ENTOMOPATOGEN PADA BIBIT JAGUNG DAN PATOGENESITASNYA TERHADAP LARVA Spodoptera frugiperda
Spodoptera frugiperda (J.E. Smith) is a major pest of maize. This pest comes from mainland America which can spread quickly to various areas around the world. This pest causes huge economic losses because it attacks from the beginning of planting to cause massive crop failure. Entomopathogenic fungi are fungi that have been shown to control insects. Entomopathogenic fungi that are endophytic are believed to be a new breakthrough in insect control which will be more practical to practice in insect control, because only with seed treatment before planting can plants avoid insect pests that usually interfere with these plants. However, the use of entomopathogenic fungi that are endophytic has not been widely used. Therefore, this study at to test the pathogenicity of endophytic fungi associated with apat maize seeds to control S. frugiperda pests and to prove that the fungi that were explored on various plants were endophytic fungi that could control S. frugiperda. This study was conducted with two experiments designed according to a completely randomized design (CRD) using 11 treatments with isolate codes BkBTp, BSwTd4, MSwTp1, MSwTp3, LLPGA, PDPD, TOPGA, JGPB260521B, JGTP030621, KBTP090621, JGPB260621A and control (sterile water) which repeated 3 times. The method used in this study, namely the test of fungal colonization on corn leaves and the test of the potential for entomopathogenic fungi that were proven to be endophytic against S. frugiperda larvae. The variables observed in this study included conidia density, conidia viability, leaf area eaten, larval body weight, larval droppings weight, larval mortality, LT50, LT95, percentage of pupae appearing, normal and abnormal pupae, weight and length of pupae, number of imagos appearing, normal and abnormal imago, body length and wingspan of imago, the lifespan of imago, number of eggs laid, number of hatching larvae, number of unhatched larvae, and the effect of entomopathogenic fungi on the growth of maize seedlings. The results of this study were obtained 6 isolates that were proven to be endophytic, namely BSwTd4, LLPGA, PDPD, TOPGA, KBTP090621 and JGTP090621 with the percentage of endophytic fungal colonization on corn seedlings obtained from TOPGA isolates, namely 80%. The results showed the highest spore density, the highest percentage of viability, and the highest mortality rate of larvae treated with TOPGA isolate with a mortality percentage of 33.33% and LT50 and LT95, namely 13 days and 24 days and the lowest was in larvae inoculated with control and fungal isolates coded BkBTp and MSwTp1. namely 1.33% and the longest LT50 and LT95, namely 24.37 days and 35.27 days. The lowest egg yield was obtained from the TOPGA treatment with an average of 66.00 eggs and the highest was obtained from the JGPB260621A treatment with an average of 166 eggs. The lowest number of hatched eggs from the PDPD isolate treatment with an average of 38.33 hatching larvae and the highest hatching in the control treatment with an average of 150.67 hatching larvae. As for the agronomic variables test of corn seedlings aged 10 days after planting, the seeds applied with fungi that were proven to be endophytic had better growth and were significantly different from the control with the highest growth of maize seedlings on various agronomic variables obtained from TOPGA treatment and the lowest on maize seedlings. given the control treatment. The conclusion of this study was that entomopathogenic fungi that were proven to be endophytic consisted of 6 isolates, namely code BSwTd4, LLPGA, PDPD, TOPGA, KBTP090621 and JGTP090621 with the percentage of colonization of endophytic fungi on corn seedlings obtained from TOPGA isolates, namely 80%. The highest mortality was obtained in entomopathogenic fungi that were proven to be endophytic, namely isolates with the TOPGA code.
