PREPARASI DAN KARAKTERISASI SUBMIKRO PARTIKEL POLY LACTIC CO-GLYCOLIC ACID (PLGA) PEMBAWA EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN SIRIH (Piper betle L.) DENGAN STABILIZER POLYVINYL ALCOHOL (PVA)
The ethanol extract of betel leaf has antibacterial activity, namely flavonoids which are unstable to high temperature and intensity, so a polymer-based submicroparticle suspension was made in the form of PLGA and PVA stabilizer. This study aims to determine the effect of variations in the concentration of PVA in the formulation, with flavonoids (quercetin) as the active substance. Preparation of submicro particle suspension using Emulsion Solvent Evaporation method. The study used 3 formulas with variations of PVA 40mg; 50mg, and 60mg; The optimum formula will be determined based on the highest % EE value. Formula 1, 2 and 3 have %EE respectively of 48.63%; 78.36%; 59.90%. The characterization results show the particle size value of 293.8; PDI 0.237; and zeta potential -17.63. The results of the physical stability test showed that there was a change in color to cloudy yellow, fading, there was a slight precipitate (aggregation occurred) on the 12th day, and the aroma did not change, and the pH decreased from 4.93 to 4.7 on the 12th day. Based on the data obtained, formula 2 as the optimum formula and submicro suspension has good particle characteristics but lacks physical stability.
