OPTIMASI DENSITAS BENIH IKAN TAMBAKAN (Helostoma temminckii) PADA TRANSPORTASI SISTEM TERTUTUP DAN PENENTUAN JENIS PAKAN YANG SESUAI PASCATRANSPORTASI
Helostoma temminckii culture is still not widely practiced, whereas on the other hand it needed to balance the exploitation of Helostoma temminckii from its nature. Fish transportation is an early stage in fish farming, especially for transport of captured wild fish to the culture area. The purpose of this study were to determine the optimal density of Helostoma temminckii fingerling in a closed transportation system for 24 hours and the suitable of feed type for recovery that has high survival rate and good physiological conditions for better aquaculture activities. This research conducted in 2 stages use completely randomized design. The first stage was closed transportation system for 24 hours with difference densities of fingerling with 6 treatments and 3 replications, namely 100 fish L-1, 120 fish L-1, 140 fish L-1, 160 fish L-1, 180 fish L-1 dan 200 fish L-1. The second stage, it was carried out by using different feed treatments, with 3 treatments and 3 replications (Tubifex sp., Chironomus sp., and commercial feed). Results of transportation test showed that density of 140 fish L-1 was the highest density for 24 hours with 92.38% of survival rate and blood glucose levels of 39.67 mg dL-1. While results in second stage showed that the most suitable feed for recovery was Chironomus sp., with survival rate 74.17%, feed efficiency 57.49% and absolute weight growth 0.19 g. The results of water quality measurements before and after transportation and recovery showed that the water quality was still within the tolerance limits for aquaculture fish.
