PENETAPAN KOEFISIEN TANAMAN (kc) TANAMAN CABAI MERAH (Capsicum annum L.) PADA TEKNIK BUDIDAYA HIDROPONIK SUBSTRAT DI RUMAH KACA
Red Chilly (Capsicum annum L.) crop is one of vegetable commodities that is highly demanded by community in their daily diet. This crop could be cultivated by using soil media as well as subtrate hydrophonic system. Substrate hydrophonic cultivation technique is soilless cultivation method that could be carried out within the greenhouse. Water is one of important elements in achieving a better crop production. Insufficient water will make plant becoming barren, dwarf, wilt, and even die. Therefore, the proper management to fulfill the crop water requirement is needed, in which the available water could be used efficiently. The magnitude of crop water requirement is the same as evaporation and transpiration added together, namely evapotranspiration (ETc). Evapotranspiration magnitude is depended on crop type and length of growing season, or simply the crop coefficient (kc). The purpose of this research was to determine the crop coefficient (kc) of chilly crop during its growing period using rice husk charcoal substrate hydrophonic cultivation technique within the greenhouse in Indralaya. The reference evapotranspiration (ETo) was determined by using Blaney- Criddle method with three trials media consisting of : 1). Trial media forTrial media for Transpiration, and 3).Trial media forEvaporation, 2). Evapotranspiration (ETc). The results showed that during 114 days growing period, the magnitude of potential or reference evapotranspiration (ETo) was in the range of 3.2 to 4.6 mm day'1. The average of minimum water requirement (ETc) for evaporation was 2.65 mm day"1, 2.93 mm day for evapotranspiration. The average of maximum water requirement (ETc) for evaporation was 5.11 mm day'1, 5.25mm day'1 for transpiration, and 4.72 mm day for evapotranspiration. Based on the initiation, vegetative, fully-close crown to early maturity, and fially maturity-harvest phases the crop coefficient (kc) were 0.87, 1.08,-i-ifor transpiration, and 2.55 mm day-i 1.12 and 1.03, respectively.
