PRODUKSI GAS, NILAI pH DAN KONSENTRASI GAS METANA SILASE AMPAS SERAI WANGI (Cymbopogon nardus L.) SECARA IN VITRO
Feed is vital in the development of cattle in Indonesia. The availability of feed ingredients in the form of forages for ruminants in tropic areas such as Indonesia is fluctuating depending on the season. As a solution, farmers utilize low-quality forage such as lemongrass waste as an ingredient for feed. This study aims to determine the effect of the use of lemongrass waste using silage technology on gas production, the pH value, and methane gas concentration in vitro. This study was conducted in December 2020 in the Laboratory of Nutrition and Farm Food, Department of Technology and Animal Husbandry Industry, Animal Husbandry Study Program, Faculty of Agriculture of Universitas Sriwijaya. It used an experimental method with 2 treatments and each treatment was repeated 10 times: P1 (lemongrass waste) and P2 (lemongrass waste silage). The parameters observed covered pH, gas production, and methane gas concentration in vitro. The results showed that the pH and concentration of methane gas were not significantly different (p> 0.05), while gas production was significantly different (p
