One of the biodiversity in Indonesia is the diversity of bird species. The Padang Sugihan wildlife reserve is one of the conservation forest areas that is a bird habitat in South Sumatra. Diversity of bird species in Padang Sugihan Wildlife Reserve has threats, specifically habitat degradation and poaching. Padang Sugihan Wildlife Reserve areas is experiencing habitat degradation such as forest fires, illegal logging and land conversion. This study aims to calculate the index of bird species diversity in Jalur 21 Elephants Training Center, Regional Conservation Resort XV. Padang Sugihan Wildlife Reserve. The research was conducted from January to April 2021. The method used is the point count method or IPA (Indices Punctual Abundance). Bird identification was based on the Birds Field Guidebook in Sumatera, Java, Bali and Kalimantan. Data was calculated using the Shannon species diversity index. There are 33 species of birds distributed into 20 bird families. Of the 4 observation stations, Station 1 of acacia forest vegetation has the highest species diversity index (H') with a value of 2.720. Station 4 of mixed forest vegetation had the lowest bird species diversity index (H') of 2.06. The Spotted-Dove (Sterptopelia chinensis) is a type of bird found throughout the station
