AKTIVITAS SENYAWA ANTIOKSIDAN DAUN JENGKOL (Pithecollobium lobatum Benth)
Oxidative stress is one of the main triggers for stroke, heart attack and high blood pressure caused by the presence of free radicals in the body. Compounds that can inhibit the formation of free radicals are antioxidant compounds. One of the plants that has the potential as an antioxidant is jengkol (Pithecollobium lobatum Benth.). Jengkol leaves contain flavonoids and phenolics that have potential as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the antioxidant active fraction of jengkol leaves, the IC50 value (Inhibition consentration) and the class of compounds that function as antioxidants in jengkol leaves. Jengkol leaves were extracted by maceration method using methanol as solvent and fractionated using n-hexane, ethyl acetate and methanol-water as solvents. The antioxidant activity test used the DPPH method (1,1-diphenyl-2-picrylhydrazyl) with various concentrations of 50, 100, 150, 200 and 250 ppm. As a positive control vitamin C was used with concentrations of 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 ppm. Determination of the class of antioxidant compounds in jengkol leaves was carried out using a TLC plate, and the absorbance was measured using a UV VIS spectrophotometer with a wavelength of 516.6 nm, then the TLC plate was sprayed with H2SO4. The variables measured in this study were the Rf value and the IC50 (Inhibition Concentration) value. The smaller the IC50 value of a sample, the stronger the antioxidants contained in the sample
