EFISIENSI PENURUNAN ESCHERICHIA COLI PADA SISTEM CONSTRUCTED WETLANDDENGANWAKTU RETENSI BERBEDA MENGGUNAKAN PHRAGMITES KARKA
Wastewater pollution still become our today’s main problem. Solutions need to be implanted to prevent our environmental degradation due to the pollution problem. One of technology can be applied is CW. To optimize its removal efficiency, factors such as retention time need to be tested. This study aimed to tested if different retention time have effect to the E coli removal efficiency in CW using Phragmites karka. Four different experimental bioreactior with 20 hours, 40 hours, 100 hours of RT were used by using completely randomized design (CRD), followed by one control (without plant with 100 hour RT. Results of this experiment showed that E coli removal efficiency were 78.12% ± 0; 87.18% ± 6.62; 96.78% ± 2.51 for the 20, 40 and 100 h RT and 91.87% ± 0 for the control. It can be concluded that the longer the RT the higher the removal efficiency will be.Based on these data, Constructed Wetland used Phragmites karka with a retention time of 100 hours is the best system to reduce the number of Escherichia coli bacteria from domestic wastewater.
