PENGARUH KONSENTRASI ASAM SULFAT DAN WAKTU AKTIVASI ARANG TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK BIOBRIKET TANDAN KOSONG KELAPA SAWIT DENGAN CAMPURAN KULIT PISANG RAJA
The manufacture of biobriquettes from biomass in the form of empty oil palm fruit bunches with a mixture of plantain peel and tapioca adhesive has been carried out. Palm oil empty fruit bunch were carbonized at a temperature of 600℃ for 90 minutes. The carbonized OPEFB charcoal was activated with sulfuric acid with variations at activation time and sulfuric acid concentration. Activation time variations include 8, 16, and 24 hours, while variations in sulfuric acid concentration are 1, 1.5, and 2N. The characteristics testing of bio briquettes is analyzed by moisture content, ash content, volatile content, carbon content, and the calorific value tested using a bomb calorimeter. Therefore, these levels refer to SNI 01-6235-2000, and ANOVA. The best bio briquettes were obtained from bio briquettes which charcoal was activated with 2N sulfuric acid for 16 hours. When the biobriquettes conditions are best, the characteristics of the bio briquettes can be tested without adhesive, without plantain peel, and with adhesive. Bio briquette without adhesive produces better characteristics but cannot be molded and destroyed when pressed. The results of the characterization of bio briquettes with tapioca adhesive and a mixture of plantain peels were better than bio briquettes without plantain peels, which resulted in 4.79% moisture content, 9.27% ash content, 40.22% volatile matter content, 45.70% carbon content, and calorific value 15502.33 cal/g which meets SNI 01-6235-2000.
