AKTIVITAS ANTIJAMUR BERBAGAI FRAKSI EKSTRAK METANOL BUAH MENGKUDU (MORINDA CITRIFOLIA L.) TERHADAP JAMUR CANDIDA KRUSEI
The antifungal activity of noni (Morinda citrifolia L.) fruit extract against Candida krusei has been carried out. Noni fruit was extracted using methanol by maseration method and the secondary metabolite compounds was assayed from the extract. The extract of yellow noni fruit was extracted by multilevel extraction with chloroform, ethyl acetate, and 2-propanol, then the levels of secondary metabolite compounds were measured. Antifungal activity from each of the fractions tested against Candida krusei using paper disc diffusion method. Fraction with the best antifungal activity determined by minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) using serial dilution method. The results showed the methanolic extract of yellow noni fruit has high level of alkaloid (54.2051 mg quinnin/g extract), flavonoid (164.7657 mg quercetin/g extract), and saponin (0.034619 mg aescin/g extract). Ethyl acetate fraction has high level of alkaloid (20.92153 mg quinine/g extract) and flavonoid (795.0497 mg quercetin/g extract). Antifungal activity assay showed the ethyl acetate fraction has weak antifungal activity against Candida krusei at concentration 1000 µg/mL with diameter of inhibition zone was 7.5 mm. While chloroform and 2-propanol fractions did not show any antifungal activity. MIC value of ethyl acetate fraction was 500 µg/mL. This result suggested that noni extract from ethyl acetate fraction has potential to be an antifungal.
