KEMAMPUAN DEGRADASI TANIN OLEH BERBAGAI JENIS CAIRAN RUMEN
This research was done to study the ability of tannin degradation by various rumen fluid it was conducted with 3 treatment and 4 replication each (SI - S3). Observed parameters were 1) Total cont bacteria, 2) Tannin concentration and 3) Characterization of rumen microbes and tannin degradation activity. This research had been conducted from Sept 24^ 2007 - Oct 29^ 2007 in Animal Feed and Nutrition Laboratory, Agriculture Faculty, Sriwijaya University. Total count bacteria were determined using Hungate method with specific media modified BHIA. There were 12, 24, 36 dan 48 hours observation. Tannin determination using protein precipitation method. Rumen microbes characterization were gram colony, morphology and clearing zone form. The result shows that total counting bacteria and tannin concentration were nonsignificant. However, S2 were showing tannin concentration degradation after incubation. Rumen microbes characterization were cocci, white coloured and gram negative (SI), streptococci, white coloured and gram positive (S2) and cocci, white coloured and gram positive (S3). S2 treatment form clearing zone on tannin specific media and predominantly by Streptococcus.
