STUDI PENGARUH VARIASI KONSENTRASI KATALIS KOH TERHADAP PARAMETER BIODIESEL DARI MINYAK BIJI KETAPANG (Terminalia catappa Linn)
The research has been done about study effect variations of KOH catalyst concentration of biodiesel parameters from ketapang seed oil (Terminalia catappa Linn). The purpose of the research is to determine the optimum KOH concentration of biodiesel ketapang seed oil at 1; 1.5; 2; 2.5; and 3% to measure the parameters of biodiesel by the methond of ASTM (American Society for Testing Materials). The parameters were measured covering specific gravity, flash point, kinematic viscocity, distillation, cetana index, carbon residue, sediment content, sulfur content, and water content. The result of this research variations of KOH catalyst concentration 2.5% produce biodiesel optimum. Parameters of all biodiesel product that use variation of KOH catalyst concentration fulfil standard of biodiesel 1-D characteriszation, density 0.8773-0.8788 g/cm3, cetana index 46.95-47.42, carbon recidue 0.01-0.09 %wt, trace for sulfur content, and kinematic viscosity 3.80-4.02 cSt.
