PENGARUH VARIASI TEMPERATUR DAN PERBANDINGAN JUMLAH METANOL DENGAN MINYAK TERHADAP KARAKTERISTIK METIL ESTER DARI MINYAK BIJI KARET (Hevea brasiliensis)
It has been done the research about “The Effect of Temperature Variation and Total of Methanol with Oil Comparison to the Characteristics Methyl Esters From Rubber Seed Oil (Hevea brasiUiensis)”. Rubber seed oil contents in amount of 43,09% w/w. The purpose of research is to determine the optimum condition of making methyl ester from rubber seed oil with temperature variations (50, 60, 70°C) and number of methanol (20 : 80, 30 : 70, 40: 60, 50 : 50, 60 : 40) and to determine the characteristics of methyl ester by the method of ASTM (American Society for Testing Materials) at the optimum temperature and variations number of methanol. The result showed that the optimum conditions in produce methyl ester is at 60°C and the ratio 60 : 40 in amount 95.07% v/w. Determination of the characteristics of methyl esters showed that the ratio of 60 : 40 at a temperature of 60°C is relatively good with a viscosity of 4.990 cSt, density of 0.8864 g/cm3, flash point 164°C, cetane index of 45.1, 0.109% w/w carbon residue, sediment content of 0.110% w/w, sulfur content of 39.9 ppm, 720.4 ppm of water content.
