UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIBAKTERI EKSTRAK ETANOL DAUN BANDOTAN (Ageratum conyzoides Linn) TERHADAP TIKUS JANTAN GALUR WISTAR DIINDUKSI BAKTERI Salmonella typhi.
Salmonella typhi is gram negative bacteria caused typhoid fever. Typhoid fever highest cases in development country in south asian and southeast asian included Indonesian. A.conyzoides in empiric is using as herbal plant for typhoid fever treatment in Indonesian. This experiment was conducted to evaluate antibacterial activity of ethanol extract A.conyzoides leaves on rats has been infected. Crude extract was evaluated characterization of the extract, Phytochemical analysis, in vivo antibacterial activity, The results of phytochemical analysis indicate the presence of steroids, flavonoids, phenols, tannins, saponins, and the total phenol content 112 mg GAE/g. in vivo antibacterial activity using rats induced with Salmonella typhi suspension. Test animals were divided into 6 groups consists of normal, negative, positive group and extract etanol A.conyzoides group in variation of doses 100, 200, 400 mg/kgBW. The results in vivo test showed the fastest returning feces consistency at dose 400mg/kgBW. Dose 400mg/kgBW group and positive control can decrease S.typhi bacteria until 0,00 cfu g-1 after 10 days treatment. 200 mg/kgBW can decrease S.typhi bacteria until 0,00 cfu g-1 after 12 days treatment. 100 mg/kgBW can decrease S.typhi bacteria until 22.50 x 105 cfu g-1 after 12 days treatment. Doses groups 100, 200 dan 400 mg/kgBW can be effect to percent changes body weight at 2 until 12 days. Percent changes body weight at dose 400 mg/kg BW not significant difference than normal group and positive group at day to 10 and 12. That’s indicates excellent in vivo antibacterial activity A.conyzoides ethanol extract at 400 mg/kgBW and not significantly difference than normal group and positive group (p>0,05)
