UJI AKTIVITAS ANTIDIABETES FRAKSI ETIL ASETAT DAUN BENALU RAMBUTAN (Dendrophthoe pentandra (L.) Miq) PADA TIKUS PUTIH JANTAN YANG DIINDUKSI ALOKSAN
The rambutan mistletoes Dendrophthoe pentandra leaves are known to contain the main secondary metabolite in the form of flavonoid quercetin which has in vitro antioxidant and antidiabetic activity. The aims of this study was to determine the effectiveness of reducing blood glucose levels of the ethyl acetate fraction of D. pentandra. The ethyl acetate fraction was obtained from liquid-liquid fractionation of ethanol extract with n-hexane, ethyl acetate, and ethanol as solvents. The flavonoid content contained in ethyl acetate fraction of D. pentandra was 172.96 mgQE/g fraction and the ethanol fraction was 43.70 mgQE/g fraction. The experimental animals male Wistar white rats divided into 6 groups consisting of normal and negative control groups given 0.5% Na-CMC, positive control administered with insulin (1 IU/kgBW), and the treatment group with the ethyl acetate fraction of D. pentandra leaves with doses of 25, 50, and 100 mg/kgBW. The rats were induced by alloxan 125 mg/kgBW until their blood glucose ≥200 mg/dL, then it was administered by the ethyl acetate of rambutan mistletoes leaves for the next 14 days. The results of the percentage reduction in blood glucose levels of the ethyl acetate fraction of D. pentandra were significantly different from the negative control (p0.05). The ED50 value of ethyl acetate fraction of D. pentandra leaves as antidiabetic obtained was 89.72 mg/kgBW.
