RESPON Spodoptera litura (FABRICIUS) (LEPIDOPTERA: NOCTUIDAE) TERHADAP BEBERAPA KONSENTRASI EKSTRAK UMBI BAWANG PUTIH DI LABORATORIUM
The objective of this research was to study the effects of garlic extract at various concentrations on the Spodoplera litura (Fabricius). The research conducted in Laboratory of Entomology, Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, from June to August 2004. The experiment was arranged in a completely randomized design with 5 treatment and 5 replications. SRI LESTARI. was The result of the first three days mortality observation showed no larvae died at the period. The dead larvae was smelly, wet and blackish brown in color. The analysis of variance of the first to the four mortality did not show any significant difference, Whereas the larvae mortality from the fifth to the seventh day showed significant differences among treatments. Feeding capacity of the larvae on the first, the second and the fifth day were significantly different among treatments. The highest percentage of pupae formation was found treatment without garlic extract amounted to 100%, and the lowest was found in treatment garlic extract concentration of 2% amounted 34.00%. The highest percentage of adult formation was found treatment without garlic extract amounted to 100%, and the lowest found in treatment garlic extract concentration of 8% amounted 22.00%. The highest number of egg mass was found treatment without garlic extract amounted to 7.40, wasand the lowest was found in treatment garlic extract concentration of 2% amounted 0.40. The highest number of eggs was found treatment without garlic extract amounted to 1361 eggs, and the lowest was found in treatment garlic extract concentration of 2% amounted 37.60 eggs.
