PENGEMBANGAN EDILBE FILM KOMPOSIT BERBASIS PATI GANYONG DENGAN PENAMBAHAN EKSTRAK DAUN SALAM (SYZYGIUM POLYANTHUM) DAN MINYAK SAWIT (ELAEIS GUINEENSIS)
The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of adding salam leaf extract and palm oil on the physical and chemical properties of edible film, which will be held on January 18 to February 28, 2021 at the General Microbiology Laboratory and Laboratory of Agricultural Product Chemistry Departement of Agricultural Technology, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study used a Factorial Completely Randomized Design (RALF) with two factors of treatment, namely addition of palm oil (0 mL, 1 mL and 1,5 mL) and salam leaf extract (0 mL, 3 mL, and 6 mL). The observed parameters in this study were physical (thickness, percent elongation, and water vapor transmission rate), chemical (total phenol and antioxidant activity) and microbiological (antibacterial activity) characteristics. The results showed that the addition of palm oil significantly affected the thickness of the edible film, whereas the addition of salam leaf extract signaficantly affected the antioxidant activity and antibacterial activity of the resulting composite edible film. Furthermore, no significant effect was noticed for interaction of the two factors. The addition of 1,5 mL palm oil and 6 mL salam leaf extract was the best treatment as indicated by water vapor transmission, antioxidant activity and antibacterial activity of edible film.
