BIOLOGI KUTU DAUN PISANG (Pentalonia nigronervosa) PADA TANAMAN JAHE (Zingiber officinale) DAN EFISIENSINYA SEBAGAI VEKTOR BANANA BUNCHY TOP VIRUS
Banana (Musa sp.) is a commodity that is quite attractive to be developed and increase its production, when being viewed from the aspect of international trade. Many factors can inhibit the growth of bananas, including the infection of stunted disease caused by BBTV (Banana Bunchy Top Virus) which threats banana plantations. BBTV is transmitted by banana aphid Pentalonia nigronervosa. The transfer of the virus from one place to another is mainly due to being carried away during the transportation of banana seeds. The research was started in August 2021 and was completed December 2021 in the Insectarium Laboratory and experimental garden of the Department of Plant Pests and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University. This study aims to determine the biology of P. nigronervosa in ginger (Zingiber officinale) and the effect of ginger on P. nigronervosa transmission efficiency of BBTV. The study used a randomized block design with five replications and four treatments. The result of this research is that after the biological test, ginger plant can be an alternative host for the growth and reproduction of P. nigronervosa. Meanwhile, the effect given on the efficiency of P. nigronervosa as a BBTV vector was significantly different between treatments. The highest disease intensity of BBTV was found in P1 (without passing plants) which was 99.92%, followed by P2 73.32%, P3 60% and the lowest attack rate was P4 26.70%.
