HUBUNGAN UKURAN PARUH DENGAN PANJANG MANTEL DORSAL DAN BERAT TUBUH SOTONG (Sepia sp) DI PERAIRAN SUMATERA SELATAN
The Research about Relation between Beaks Size with Dorsal Mantle Length (DML) ang Weight (W) of Cuttlefish {Sepia sp) in South Sumatera Water has been done from May 2009 up to June 2009. This research aimed to establish existed relationships between part of lower beaks measurements, consisted of Lower Hood Length ( LHL) , Lower Crest Length ( LCL) and Total Lower Length ( TLL) to Body Weight ( W) and Dorsal Mantle Length(DML). The result of measurement of biometrics 77 cuttlefish samples {Sepia sp) used in research has Dorsal Mantle Length (DML) ranged from 46 - 114 mm with average 70,45 mm and Body Weight ( W) between 19,9 - 149,85 gram with average 69,044 gr. The result of measurement of lower beak is : Lower Hood Length ( LHL) ranged from 2,3 - 3,9 mm with average 3,12 mm, Lower Crest Length ( LCL) between 2,2 - 6,6 mm with average 3,68 mm, and Total Lower Length (TLL) ranges from 4,4 - 9,5 mm with average 6,40 mm. The result of analysis regression linier and non linier showed that between beak length with dorsal mantle length and body weight had strong relation. The relation of dorsal mantle length with lower beak related by these formulae: DML = 23,73 . LHL -3,75 (r = 0.590) ; DML = 13.66 + 15.40. LCL (r = 0.953); DML = 12.88. TLL -12.05 (r = 0.949). The relation of Body weight with lower beak related by these formulae: W = 3,897 . LHL 2M' (r = 0.652); W = 6,415. LCL 1777 (r = 0.902); W = 0.597. TLL 2 519 (r = 0.920). Statistical analysis (t — test) showed that lower hood length, lower crest length, and total lower length could be used to determine body weight and dorsal ftiantle length of Sepia sp.
