The research about detection ofplankton using hidroacoustic method has been done in Bangka Strait Bangka Belitung Province using Scientific Fishfinder Split Beam Echosounder Type Simrad EY 60 and to collecting plankton sample using planktonnet. Plankton data analysis has been done at Marine Science Laboratory Sriwijaya University Indralaya and acoustic data analysis has been done at Research Center of Capture Fisheries Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries Jakarta. Composition of plankton found in Bangka strait consist of 10 species of fitoplankton and two species of zooplankton, they are Euterpina sp. and Hyperia sp. Average zooplankton abundance using conventional method was 3 ind/l and the highest of zooplankton abundance was 5 ind/l. The average of plankton density data using acoustic method was 290,889 trace/lOOOm. Distribution of zooplankton using acoustic method dominated in Tanjung Belawan area was 330.004 trace/1OOOm3.
