The research about community structure of plankton in Lumpur River Estuarine of Ogan Komering Ilir Regency South Sumatera was conducted in May 2006. The objectives of the research are to know about community structure of plankton in Lumpur River by observing abundance, diversity index, evenness index, dominancy index, similarity index and distribution index. Sampling was conducted by purposive sampling method within 10 observated stations. The environtmental variabels which were measured included temperature, transparancy, current, depth, pH, salinity, DO, nitrate and phosphate. The results obtain 34 genera for phytoplankton community which consisted of 4 classes namely: Bacillariophyceae 96,8 %, Cyanophyceae 1,8 %, Dinophyceae 0,8 % and Chlorophyceae 0,6 %. The zooplankton community was founded in three classes: Crustacea 87 %, Protozoa 9 % and Gastropoda 4 %. Diversity index of plankton showed that diversity was moderate. Evenness index of plankton in the stations is 0,481 — 0,958, showed that good evenness. Phytoplankton similarity index in the stations is 0,26 - 0,85, which mean community spreading relative of equal goodness. The zooplankton similarity index are 0 - 0,75. In conclusing the distribution of community is not well, and also the genera distribution of plankton is clumped type.
