PENGGUNAAN Bacillus thuringiensis SEBAGAI BAHAN AKTIF BIOINSEKTISIDA PADA BERBAGAI MEDIA LIMBAH ORGANIK PERTANIAN DENGAN DOSIS YANG BERBEDA TERHADAP MORTALITAS LARVA Oryctes rhinoceros (COLEOPTERA : SCARABAEIDAE)
Rhinoceros beetle (Oryctes rhinoceros) is an important pest of oil palm and causes considerable damage. Control of O. rhinoceros has been widely carried out by using chemicals or taking them directly one by one. Bacillus thuringiensis is one example of a microbe that can be used as a bioinsecticide in controlling pests. The study was conducted from June to August 2021. The study used a factorial completely randomized design (RALF), with two factors, namely the dose factor (two types) and B. thuringiensis propagation media factor (8 types), and 3 replications for each treatment. The purpose of this study was to determine density of B. thuringiensis spores propagated with various agricultural organic wastes and mortality of O. rhinoceros larvae. The waste media that produced the highest spore was bran + biourine media using TPP isolate. The use of bioinsecticide doses affected the mortality of larvae. The highest larval mortality was at a dose of 3 ml of TPP isolate propagated on rice bran + bio urine media. O. rhinoceros larvae infected with B. thuringiensis bacteria showed symptoms of inactivity, changes in body color from white to black, decreased appetite for larvae, and a foul smell. Liquid organic waste media affects the density of spores.
