EVALUASI KESESUAIAN LAHAN TANAMAN KARET (Hevea brasiliensis) DI DESA KARANG ENDAH UTARA KECAMATAN GELUMBANG, KABUPATEN MUARA ENIM
Rubber plant is one of the leading commodities in South Sumatra Province and is one of the plants that is quite adaptive to various environmental condition so that it has a wide crop distribution. The demand for rubber is predicted to continue increasing in the future because the need for goods derived from rubber is also increasing. The results of the study are expected to increase the yield of rubber production in Karang Endah Utara Village, Gelumbang District. This study aims to evaluate several chemical properties (soil pH, N-total, P2O5, K2O, and CEC) and soil physics (texture) to assess land suitability for rubber plants in Karang Endah Utara Village which are presented in the form of maps and land suitability tables. This research was carried out in Karang Endah Utara Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency in October 2020. This study uses an intensive survey method with a scale of 1:6.000 with a land area of 6 ha. The sample point consists of 6 points which are determined purposively. Soil samples were taken from a depth of 0 – 30 cm. Parameters observed in the field are drainage class which is classified as good, effective depth is 130 cm and land topography is categorized as flat land slope 0 - 2%. Parameters observed in the laboratory were soil physical properties in the form of sandy loam texture and chemical properties in the form of very acidic to acidic soil pH between 3.4 - 4.76. N-total is classified as moderate between 0.36% - 0.51%. P-available is classified as very low to low between 4.00 mg/kg – 13.4 mg/kg. K2O is classified as very low between 0.19 cmol/kg – 0.26 cmol/kg and soil CEC is classified as low which is between 7.7 cmol/kg – 12.5 cmol/kg. The results showed that the actual suitability for rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) was S3-nfrw (not in accordance with the limiting factor of P nutrient availability, soil CEC, root depth and dry month) with an area of 2 ha and N-nfrw (not in accordance with the limiting factor). availability of P nutrients, soil pH, soil CEC, root depth and dry month) covering an area of 4 ha. Given inputs in the form of fertilizers and lime, the potential suitability for rubber (Hevea brasiliensis) is S2-wr (sufficiently appropriate to the limiting factor of water availability (w) namely dry months and effective depth (r)) with a total area of 6 ha.
