This study aims to assess the limiting factors that affect the suitability of land for planting oil palm and to map suitable land for planting oil palm in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya Gelumbang University. This research was conducted in December 2020 – May 2021 in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University, Gelumbang Village, Gelumbang District, Muara Enim Regency. The analysis of the physical and chemical properties of the soil was carried out at the Laboratory of Chemistry, Physics and Soil Biology, Department of Soil, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijya University. The method used in this research is a survey method at the level of detail with the help of a base map with a scale of 1:5,000. The research study area is 46 ha. Determination of the sampling location is done by the grid method. The sample points are 46 sample points where each sample point represents ± 1 ha. Soil samples were taken by drilling as deep as 120 cm which at each point the sample was taken compositely. The results of this study are sample points 1, 8, and 15 have limiting factors in the form of K2O, sample points 2 and 5 have limiting factors in the form of N-total, sample points 9, 10, 14, and 16 have limiting factors in the form of K2O and N-total , sample point 3 has limiting factors in the form of pH and N-total, sample points 12 and 13 have limiting factors in the form of pH, N-total, and K2O, sample points 4 and 7 have limiting factors in the form of soil texture, KTK, pH, N- total, while sample point 6 has limiting factors in the form of KTK, pH, and steepness of the slope. The actual land suitability for oil palm plantations at the research site is S3-f,n, S3-n, S2-r,f,n, S2-f,s, S2-f. Potential land suitability at the research site is S2-r and S1, namely by overcoming the limiting factors of pH, KTK, K2O, N-total, and slope.
