KARAKTERISTIK PASIEN DAN PROSEDUR PEMULASARAAN JENAZAH TERKAIT COVID-19 DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN TAHUN 2020-2021

Coronavirus is an encapsulated positive single-stranded RNA virus that causes respiratory disease in animals and humans. Several pneumonia cases reported in China in late 2019 were identified as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2, the etiologic agent of COVID-19. On March 2, 2020, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, announced the first and second cases of COVID-19 in Indonesia. As of 7 July 2021, there were more than 2.3 million cases of COVID-19 infection and 62,908 deaths throughout Indonesia. The majority of COVID-19 positive patients in Indonesia are women (51.2%) aged 31-45 years (29%) and most patients who died due to COVID-19 infection in Indonesia were male (53.7%) aged more than 60 years (47.9%). COVID-19 is a dangerous type of disease because the spread of this disease is wide and fast. According to research, the SARS-CoV-2 virus is still present in patients who died. As a preventive measure, it is necessary to implement safety dead body management for COVID-19 cases and use appropriate personal protective equipment to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community. This study aims to determine the characteristics of COVID-19 patients and dead body management for COVID-19 cases at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin. This study used a descriptive observational research design. The population of this study were all patients who died related to COVID-19 and eight forensic staff at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin. Data was obtained through medical records of patients who died related to COVID-19 and questionnaires for forensic staff. The data were analyzed using the SPSS program. The variables of this study were gender, age, place of residence, case diagnosis, comorbidities, and dead body management for COVID-19.
