Separation of cellulose has been performed from residue of fumiture industrial waste by using methanol and HC1 on the various concentration of acid. Cellulose was characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy and was applied as adsorbent for Fe2+ and Mg2+ in aqueous medium. The interaction was studied by performing adsorption interaction with various time the influence of concentration, desorption and FT-IR spectroscopy of metal ion with cellulose. The FT-IR results showed that the cellulose separated from wood residue of fumiture industrial waste by using 5% (v/v) acid and cellulose contain OH functional group. The -OH appeared at wavc of wavenumber 3420.7 cm"1. Interaction of Fc2+ and Mg2+ with cellulose reached equilibrium at 10 minutes. Energy of adsorption of metal ions Fe2+ and Mg2+ was 40.66 kJ/mol and 36.67 kJ/mol respectively. Chemical interaction was dominated in the adsorption of Fe2+ with cellulose and physical interaction more dominated then Chemical interaction in the adsorption of Mg2+. FTIR spectra of Fe2+ with cellulose showed wavenumber from 3851.1 cm"1 to 3422.3 1 with the streching vibration of OH functional groups that show the Chemical bonding between the metal ions of the Fe2+ with cellulose. FT-IR spectra of Mg2+ with cellulose showed wavenumber at 3401.3 cm"1 similiar to cellulose Standard indicated physical interaction.
