Background: Discolored teeth can be treated through bleaching that is aimed at restoring the white color of the teeth. Previous studies showed that teeth whitening from hydrogen peroxide application can be improved by repeated its applications, however the use of this material still causes tooth surface roughness. 2.5% tangerine peel extract reported to have the potential to be an alternative bleaching material, therefore the teeth whitening degree from its repeated application needs to be evaluated further. Objective: Determine the effect of repeated application of 2.5% tangerine peel extract gel on the degree of teeth whitening. Material and Methods: Experimental research was conducted on 24 premolar teeth with C4 shade which color values (L*, a*, and b*) have been recorded using Colorimeter. 2,5% tangerine peel extract gel was applied to groups A and B. Positive control groups C and D were applied 40% hydrogen peroxide used as a comparison. In Groups B and D, the application was repeated twice. Tooth color after bleaching material application was measured and processed to obtain ∆L*, ∆a*, ∆b*, and ∆Eab* values that will be subjected to One Way Anova and Post Hoc LSD statistical tests. Results: No significant difference was found in ∆a* and ∆b* values between all groups. Repeated bleaching application group produced significantly higher brightness (∆L*) and total color change values (∆Eab*) than others group. Conclusion: Repeated 2.5% tangerine peel extract gel application can increase teeth whitening degree, but it hasn’t been able to match tooth whitening degree from 40% hydrogen peroxide application. Keywords: Colorimeter, repeated application, tangerine peel extract, teeth whitening degree, tooth bleaching.
