PREPARASI DAN KARAKTERISASI CaO DARI CANGKANG KERANG MANGROVE (Geloina expansa) DAN APLIKASINYA SEBAGAI KATALIS DALAM PRODUKSI BIODIESEL DARI MINYAK JELANTAH
Preparation of calcium oxide catalyst (CaO) from Mangrove clam shells (Geloina expcinsci) by decomposition at various temperatures i.e. 600, 700, 800, 900, 1000 and 1100°C. The XRD result shows peak of 20 : 32,2°, 37,4°, 54,0°, 64,3° and 67,5° for decomposition at 1100°C similar with diffraction of CaO from JCPDS Standard. The FT-IR spectrum shown special characteristics of CaO vibration at wavenumber 393 cm'1. Comparation of the SEM-EDX anaiized results on Mangrove clam shells before decomposition contain 36,35% Ca and after decomposition at 1100°C has 90,43% CaO. The CaO from decomposition at 1100°C was applied as catalyst in biodiesel synthesis from waste cooking oil by transesterification reaction. The biodiesel was characterize and obtain the density 0,8543 g/cm3, viscosity 5,6766 mm2/s (cSt), acid number 0,5610 mg/KOH and iodine number 45,2610 g I2/l 00 g, respectively.
