KARAKTERISTIK DAN PERANAN Bacillus spp. SEBAGAI AGENS PENGINDUKSI RESISTENSI TANAMAN CAISIN TERHADAP INFEKSI Peronospora parasitica Pers. ex Fr.
The objective of this research was to investigate the role of rizobacteria {Bacillus spp.) as antagonist in controlling downy mildew disease of Chinese cabbage. The research was conducted in Bacteriology Laboratory and green house, Department of Plant Pests and Disease, Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University Indralaya, fforn July to September 2008. The effectiveness of bacterial isolates to induce resistance to P. parasitica of chinese cabbage was arranged in a completely randomized design with 10 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments were 1 (Bspp 1 isolate), 2 (Bspp 2 isolate), 3 (Bspp 3 isolate), 4 (Bspp 4 isolate), 5 (Bspp 5 isolate), 6 (Bspp 6 isolate), 7 (Bspp 7 isolate), 8 (Bspp 8 isolate), 9 (Bspp 9 isolate), 10 (Bspp 10 isolate). Identification of morfology and fisiology showed that Bspp bacterial isolates were Bacillus general. This bacterial could induced resistance to P. parasitica of chinese cabbage. The result showed that Bacillus spp. could reduce downy mildew disease caused by P. parasitica of Chinese cabbage. The disease severity was 59,49% in plants treated with Bsppl, smaller than the disease severity of plants treated with Bspp 7 amounted to 76,35%.
