Thoracic injury and its complications is the caused of one of four trauma patients died. Penetrating thoracic injury is injury that penetrate thoracic cavity and may cause damage to thoracic wall or cavity. This study aims to determine the characteristics of penetrating thoracic injury patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital in Palembang on 2019 – 2020. This research is an observational descriptive study. The data used in this study is secondary data from medical records of penetrating thoracic injury patients on January 1st, 2019 – December 31st 2020 at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Hospital in Palembang who has met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. From 110 samples, penetrating thoracic injury patients was dominantly male, 15 – 24 years old, caused by knife stabbing, mostly on posterior thorax part, diagnosed with hemopneumothorax, mostly not accompanied by other injury, had high survival rate, mostly not reffered patients, and took >120 minutes to reach hospital after injured.
