EFEKTIVITAS EKSTRAK KULIT DUKU (Lansium domesticum Corr) SEBAGAI ANTIBAKTERI TERHADAP BAKTERI Enterococcus faecalis
Introduction: Enterococcus faecalis is the most common pathogen bacteria in post endodontic treatment with a case prevalence of 30% to 90%, hence the bacteria should be eliminated from the root canal. Irrigation is an important procedure to eliminated microorganisms and biofilm from the root canal. Peel of duku contains bioactive compounds that have antibacterial potency, such as flavonoid, saponin, and triterpenoid. Objective: To determine the effectiveness of duku peel extract (Lansium domesticum Corr) as antibacterial against Enterococcus faecalis. Material and Methods: This study was a quasi-experimental using post test only control group design with 4 groups of test materials consist of duku peel extract with a concentration of 20%, 25%, 30%, 35%, and 2% chlorhexidine gluconate with 6 repetitions for each experimental group. Antibacterial potency was tested with well diffusion agar method in Mueller Hinton Agar media. All groups were assessed after 24 hours of incubation period in 37°C. Diameter of Inhibition zone was measured with a caliper and data were analyzed using One Way ANOVA test and Post Hoc Tukey test. Result: The duku peels extract with concentration of 35% had the highest average of inhibitory zone (8,61±0,4806 mm) followed concentration of 30% (7,64±0,6439 mm), 25% (6,31±0,5811 mm), and 20% (5,52±0,4082 mm). Conclusion: Duku peel extract was found effective as antibacterial against Enterococcus faecalis with the 35% concentration showed the highest inhibition zone that categorized as resistant.
