HUBUNGAN ANTARA DEPRESI DAN KESEPIAN DENGAN PENGGUNAAN MEDIA SOSIAL
Background: According to the Indonesian Internet Service Providers (APJII) survey in 2017, 143 million out of 262 million (54.68%) people in Indonesia use social media. According to a study conducted by Rosen, et al in 2013, found that individuals who spent more time using social media proved to have more clinical symptoms of severe depression, and this was most common in women. Method: This research is an analytic observational research with cross sectional design. The research sample of 467 students who met the inclusion criteria. Testing the relationship of sex with the intensity of social media use using the chi-square test. Testing the relationship of the number of sex and age on the intensity of social media use and the level of depression and the level of loneliness using the bivariate two way annova test. Results: The results of the study that reported the relationship between the intensity of use of social media with the level of depression showed, p value 0,000 with r -0,292, thus indicating that there was a significant relationship between the use of high social media intensity resulting in a tendency that was not depressed or normal. Conclusion: The higher the use of social media, the normal depression level and the low loneliness level in FK Unsri preclinical students.
