Pulmonary tuberculosis is a chronic infectious disease that is still a public health problem in the world. Besides clinical symptom, examination is also needed to diagnosis of pulmonary TB. One of examination which is quick, non-invasive, inexpensive, and easy to use is radiological examination (chest X-ray). On chest X-ray, cavity findings vary widely from 20-45% of pulmonary TB cases. Cavity lesions can be found in cases of pulmonary TB as well as other lung diseases, so this study aims to determine the characteristics of the cavity on adult pulmonary TB chest X-ray. This study is descriptive observational using data from medical record and chest X-ray of adult pulmonary tuberculosis patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang from the time period January 2020-October 2021. It was found that 28 patients had a cavity lesion and had been read by a radiologist at the Radiology Installation of RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin. Data were processed to determine the frequency distribution of each variable. The results based on the number of cavity lesions, multiple cavity lesions (60.7%) were more dominantly seen. Based on location of cavity lesions, most of them were found in the upper right zone (46.4%), upper left zone (57.1%), and left middle zone (53.6%). Based on wall thickness of cavity lesions, the most dominant thickness was > 4 mm (89.3%). Based on diameter of cavity lesion, the most common was diameter > 4 cm (57.1%).
