The age group that has the highest risk for chronic energy deficiency (CED) is the group of women of childbearing age (WCA) 15–49 years who are not pregnant, with a risk of 20.8%. In 2017 in Palembang City the prevalence of CED was 10.0% with the highest incidence of CED being in the Makrayu Health Center area of Palembang City, which was 7.4%. The purpose of this study was to analyze the correlation of preconception preparation knowledge to the incidence of CED that occurred in adolescent girls in the Makrayu Health Center area of Palembang City. This study used a cross sectional research design using purposive sampling technique as many as 176 adolescent girls aged 15-19 years. Data analysis was carried out univariate, bivariate and multivariate using the Chi-square test. The results showed that there were 50,6% adolescent girls who experienced CED with the smallest upper arm circumference of 18.8 cm. There are 61,9% adolescents who do not know about preconception preparation, 35,2% adolescents who are malnourished, 4% adolescents have a history of disease, 96% adolescents with poor diet and 8,5% adolescents have an influence on body image. The bivariate results showed that there was a correlation between the level of knowledge, diet and body mass index and there was no relationship between the effect of body image and disease history. Multivariate results stated that the level of knowledge had a greater influence on the incidence of KEK. The incidence of CED in the Makrayu Health Center area of Palembang City is high (50%) which is influenced by the level of knowledge, diet, and BMI. In tackling the CED incident, the Makrayu Health Center can carry out health promotions and carry out nutritional status measurement activities for adolescent girls who are in the Makrayu Health Center area. So that the target group can better know their nutritional status and can maintain a healthy and balanced lifestyle and diet and can be more active in finding out more information so that they begin to prepare themselves to become WCA who do not experience CED.
