GAMBARAN KEJADIAN EFEK SAMPING RADIOTERAPI PADA PENDERITA KARSINOMA NASOFARING DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is the most common head and neck cancer that occurs in the nasopharynx. Nasopharyngeal carcinoma is radioresponsive so that radiotherapy is still the treatment of choice for the treatment of nasopharyngeal carcinoma. This study aims to describe the side effects of radiotherapy in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. This research is a descriptive observational study with a cross-sectional design. Samples were taken using purposive sampling method based on medical record data and the results of interviews with patients. The data were analyzed descriptively using the SPSS version 26 program, presented in the form of a frequency distribution table and explained in a narrative manner according to the research objectives. In patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma in Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang, after undergoing radiotherapy obtained from 48 research subjects there were 31 (64.6%), xerostomia 40 (83.3%), taste dysfunction (dysgeusia) 38 (79.2%), oral candidiasis 15 (31.3%), dental caries 3 (6.3%), nausea 37 (77.1%), and skin disorders 22 (48.5%). The most common side effect in nasopharyngeal carcinoma patients after undergoing radiotherapy is xerostomia and the least occurrence is dental caries.
