PERILAKU IBU DALAM PEMBERIAN MP-ASI DI WILAYAH KERJA PUSKESMAS KARANG MUKTI KECAMATAN LALAN KABUPATEN MUSI BANYUASIN
Provision of complementary foods for breast milk in an inappropriate way can affect the growth and development of children. The low coverage of exclusive breastfeeding can be caused by the early provision of complementary foods for breast milk. In 2020, the Musi Banyuasin Health Office reported that the coverage of exclusive breastfeeding in the Karang Mukti Health Center working area was 47.65% and had not yet reached the specified target. This study aims to analyze the behavior of mothers in the provision of complementary feeding of breast milk in the working area of Karang Mukti Public Health Center, Lalan District, Musi Banyuasin Regency. This research is a qualitative descriptive study using purposive sampling method in selecting 33 informants, namely 8 mothers who have babies aged 6-24 months as key informants, 1 nutritionist and 4 village midwives as expert key informants, 8 posyandu cadres, 8 people mother's husband, and 4 village heads as supporting informants. The results showed that all mothers who had babies aged 6-24 months tended to provide complementary foods for early breastfeeding, namely by providing food/drinks other than breast milk in the form of water, honey, mashed bananas and formula milk as a substitute for breast milk to their babies before the age of 6. months was found to be given the most to infants aged a few hours/day after birth and infants aged 1-5 months due to lack of knowledge, lack of initiative to obtain information about complementary foods for breast milk independently, and the old tradition of parents still being strong. This is also influenced by the lack of encouragement from the closest family and the mother's attitude in understanding the proper and correct provision of complementary feeding for breast milk. It can be concluded that the behavior of mothers in providing complementary feeding in the Karang Mukti Health Center work area tends to provide early breastfeeding complementary foods so it is recommended to the relevant health offices and local health workers to be able to provide education according to the target group based on the level of education and it is necessary to make specific programs related to complementary foods. Breastfeeding is in the form of training on the manufacture of complementary foods based on the age group of infants in under-five mothers on a regular basis.
