PENGUJIAN BEBERAPA JENIS TUMBUHAN SEBAGAI SUMBER ATRAKTAN LALAT BUAH Bactrocera spp. (DIPTERA: TEPHRITIDAE) PADA TANAMAN BELIMBING (Averrhoa carambola L.)
The objective of this research was to investigate the species of plants used as attractant of fruit flies. Plant extract preparation was conducted in Laboratory of oil Processing, Chemical Engineering Department, Sriwijaya Polytechnic, Palembang. Treatments, using plant extracts as attractants were done in Indralaya, Tanjung Seteko, Lubuk Sakti and Lorok Villages, Indralaya District, Ogan Ilir South Sumatera, from May to Juny 2006. The observation were done by directly counting of attracted fruit fly. Treatments used were oil extracts of Ocimum tenuiflorum L., Ocimum basilicum L., Artdropogon nardus L., Melaleuca leucadendron L., and Ocimum canum L. Parameters observed were number and species fruit fly trapped by oil plant extracts and effectivity period of oil plant extracts. The result showed the highest number of trapped fruit flies was on Ocimum basilicum L. i.e. 739 individues and the lowest one was on Andropogon nardus L. i.e. 422 individues. The identified species were Bactrocera dorsalis Hend. And Bactrocera umbrosus Fab. The effectivity period of oil plant extract was 30-37 days.
