HUBUNGAN DIABETES MELITUS TIPE 2 DENGAN INDEKS KEPARAHAN RADIOGRAFI DADA PADA PASIEN COVID-19 DI RSUP DR. MOHAMMAD HOESIN PALEMBANG
Background: COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by SARS-CoV-2 (Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2) which has never been encountered in humans before. There are risk factors that affect the severity of COVID-19 infection, one of which is a patient with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus and the severity index of chest radiography in COVID-19 patients. Methods: This research is an observational analytic. The sample in this study were COVID-19 patients with comorbid type 2 diabetes mellitus who were hospitalized at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang in the period March 2021 - September 2021. Bivariate analysis was carried out using the Spearman correlation test to look for factors related to the chest radiographic severity index in COVID-19 patients. Results: There were 37 samples who were the subjects of this study. Through the analysis of the Spearman correlation test, there was no significant relationship between blood sugar (p = 0.163; r = 0.234) and hemoglobin A1C (p = 0.154; r = 0.239) on the chest radiography severity index. Conclusion: There is no significant relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus through examination of random blood glucose (RBG) and hemoglobin A1C (HbA1C) with chest radiography severity index in COVID-19 patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang.
