GAMBARAN PERILAKU PEMELIHARAAN KESEHATAN GIGI DAN MULUT PADA SISWA KELAS XI SMAN 5 PALEMBANG DI MASA PANDEMI COVID-19
Background: Caries and periodontitis are the most common dental and oral health problems in Indonesia. In order to prevent caries, maintaining dental and oral health could be done with tooth brushing. Moreover, education and knowledge level affects the condition of dental and oral health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, dental practice was closed and only accepted emergency patients and the access to dental practice was limited. The purpose of this study was to describe the behavior of dental and oral health maintenance in class XI students of SMAN 5 Palembang during the COVID-19 pandemic. Method: The descriptive survey research used an online questionnaire containing 21 questions. Subjects involved in this study were 70 students in class XI SMAN 5 Palembang. Results: All respondents have brushed their teeth every day. Most of the respondents had used mouthwash, brushed their teeth for more than 120 seconds, and had brushed their teeth with the correct method and reached the entire tooth surface. Conclusion: The overview of dental and oral health maintenance for class XI students of SMAN 5 Palembang during the COVID-19 pandemic was acceptable.
