Introduction: Chronic Hepatitis B is a global infectious health problem caused by the hepatitis B virus. Laboratory tests such as HBsAg and HBV DNA hold an important role in chronic hepatitis B. Besides, examination of the degree of liver fibrosis based on fibroscan is the main role in determining the diagnosis. This study aims to investigate the distribution frequency of chronic hepatitis B patients based on risk factors, laboratory tests, and to discover the correlation of HBV DNA Levels with the fibrosis’ degree based on fibroscans of chronic hepatitis B outpatients at Dr. Mohammad Hosein Palembang during the period of 2018-2020.
Method: The research used is an observational analytic study with a cross sectional design. Data collection is done with Consecutive sampling technique. The research data used are patient medical records from 55 chronic hepatitis B patients at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period 2018-2020. The data are obtained from patient distribution data and the correlation between the two variables. The data are then processed and analyzed using univariant analysis and bivariant analysis (Gamma test).
Result: From 55 patients, the highest range of chronic hepatitis B patients according to age is early elderly (45 - 55 years) (32.7%), men (76.4%) more than women, AST value with median 29 IU/mL , min-max 15-230 IU/mL, and ALT values with median 33 U/mL, min-max 10-142 U/mL. The highest level of HBV DNA that the patient have is classified as weakly detectable HBV DNA (41.8%) and the highest degree of fibrosis based on fibroscan is in the very severe fibrosis/cirrhosis stage (F4) (45.5%). The results of the bivariant analysis obtained p-value 0.000 and r = 0.623.
Conclusion: There is a correlation between HBV DNA levels and fibrosis degree based on fibroscans in chronic hepatitis B outpatients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang period 2018-2020.
