MDR TB is TB with strains that are resistant to isoniazid and rifampicin which are the most effective as antiretroviral drugs with or without other drugs. Long treatment and varied OATs are often the reason for stopping drugs in patients and causing the high incidence of MDR TB and low rates of treatment success, especially in Indonesia. Based on the data and problems above, researchers are interested in conducting research on the pattern of use of antituberculosis drugs and drug side effects in MDR TB patients who use short-term and long-term regimens at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang. This research is a study of the pattern of drug use. The samples were taken using the total sampling method based on the patient's medical record data. The sample of this study was 52. The data were analyzed descriptively using SPSS version 25, presented in the form of a frequency distribution table. In MDR TB patients at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang, the period October 2018-December 2019 obtained from 52 research subjects it was found that the pattern of using OAT was rational based on the accuracy of the dose, frequency and duration of administration in 52 people (100%). In addition, side effects were found in the form of weakness, nausea and vomiting in 44 people (84.6%), arthagia and hyperuricemia and hearing loss in 22 people (42.3%). Major side effects were more common in the short-term regimen than the long-term with the proportion of 21 people (40.4%) on the short-term regimen and 4 people (7.7%) on the long-term regimen. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that at RSUP Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Palembang the most common side effects in MDR TB patients were weakness, nausea and vomiting and the rational use of OAT.
