ANALISIS FAKTOR RISIKO NYERI LEHER DAN BAHU PADA PEGAWAI KANTOR DINAS KOMUNIKASI DAN INFORMATIKA KOTA PALEMBANG
Background: Neck and shoulder pain is one of the prevalent complaints among people. The risk factors that play a role in neck and shoulder pain complaints can differ from one population to another. This research was conducted to analyze the effect of age, gender, body mass index, physical activity, working period, prolonged sitting, and working posture on neck and shoulder pain among employees of Palembang City Department of Communication and Informatics.
Methods: This research is an observational analytic study with a cross-sectional design. Sample selected by using total sampling technique with a total of 87 samples. Research data were taken by measuring weight and height, interviewing and filling out questionnaires, and recording sitting posture. The data which were collected then analyzed using the Chi-square test or Fisher's test followed by the Logistic Regression test using the SPSS.
Results: The results of the Chi-square analysis found that there were a significant relationship between gender (p=0,031), age (p=0,004), body mass index (p=0,000), physical activity (p=0,003), prolonged sitting (p=0,010), and working posture (p=0,037) with neck pain. Through bivariate analysis, found that gender (p=0,038), age (p=0,005), body mass index (p=0,000), physical activity (p=0,001), prolonged sitting (p=0,018), and working posture (p=0,024) had a significant relation with shoulder pain. The risk factor that most influenced neck pain was gender (p=0,021; OR=4,342) and the risk factor that most influenced shoulder pain was gender (p=0,023; OR=4,670).
Conclusion: The risk factors that were significantly associated with the incidence of neck and shoulder pain among employees of Palembang City Department of Communication and Informatics were gender, age, body mass index, physical activity, prolonged sitting, and working posture.
