PEMANFAATAN ECENG GONDOK (Eichhornia crassipes) DALAM PEMBUATAN ELEKTRODA KARBON UNTUK KAPASITOR LAPIS GANDA ELEKTROKIMIA
Study of utilization of water hyacinth (Eichhornia crassipes) in the fabrication of carbon electrode for electrochemical double layer capacitors (EDLC) has been done. Water hyacinth was carbonated using microwave oven. Pore characterization was conducted using iodine and methylene blue examination. Crystallography and morphology of carbon was characterized using XRD, FTIR, and SEM. The electrochemical property of carbon electrode was examined using cyclic voltammetry. The pore surface area of carbon was 805,40 m2g~l. SEMEDX showed the existence of carbon and sylvite mineral as well the XRD data showed the appearance of peaks in 28,43°, 29,46°, dan 40,62°. FTIR pattem denoted the existence of -OH bounding in 3500-3700 cm-1. The highest number of capacitance reached 11,8 Fg"1. DOE (Design of Experiment) showed that capacitance was influenced by the electrolyte concentration and scan rate as well. The results concluded that water hyacinth was suitable to be used as carbon electrode material in the electrochemical double layer capacitors.
