The research was aimed at knowing the virulence of 3 best isolates ofB. bassiana irradiated with ultra violet at different intensity against P. xylostella. Theresearch was conducted from July 2005 to February 2006 in EntomologicalLaboratory, Department of Plant Pest and Diseases, Faculty of Agriculture, SriwijayaUniversity. The experiment was arranged in a Factorial Completely Randomized Design comprised of two factors, i.e. there levels of isolates and four levels of concentration. Each treatment consisted of 20 larvae of P. xylostella and was replicated three times. The parameters observed included larval mortality, morphological characteristic of dead larvae, and viability of B. bassiana spores. The research results showed that, out of 27 isolates tested for their viability under ultra violet radiatoin, there were three best isolates with high viability and used for virulent test against P. jcylostella. The best three isolates were PD9, S100, and JTM2. The irradiation with UV at different intensity against 3 best isolates significantly affected larval mortality at 24 and 48 hours after irradiation. The interaction between isolate and concentration also significantly affected larval mortality of P. xylostella at 48 hours after irradiation. The higher the concentration of B. bassiana, the higher the larval mortality. The effect ofB. bassianaconcentration on the P. xylostella larval mortality at 24 hours after treatment rangedfrom 7,46 to 48,21%. the effect of concentration of B. bassiana on P. xylostellalarval mortality ranged from 14,15 to 56,21%. the effect of interaction betweenisolate and concentration of B. bassiana on larval mortality at 48 hours aftertreatment ranged from 12,92 to 60,07%.
