DISTRIBUSI KADAR PASIR DAN KANDUNGAN BAHAN ORGANIK TANAH DI LAHAN KEBUN KARET BLOK B FAKULTAS PERTANIAN UNIVERSITAS SRIWIJAYA INDRALAYA
The research was motivated by an ever increasing need for land, scarcity of fertile agricultural land and potential, as well as the existence of competition between agricultural land use and non-farm, requiring the appropriate technology in an effort to optimize the sustainable use of land. To be able to utilize land resources as directed and efficient provision of necessary data and complete information about the climate, soil and other physical properties of the environment. In order for plants togrow well, then it should be ideal soil conditions in accordance with the conditionsthat plants need. Soil rich in nutrients and contain sufficient organic, greatly alfectplant growth and development in order to grow optimally. Predominant soil texture of sand and soil organic matter levels are not enough, causing water and nutrients can not be held by soil particles, so the loss of water and nutrients occurs very rapidly. The purpose of this study was to obtain data and information about the distribution of sand content and soil organic matter content in the Rubber Plantation Farm Block B Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University as the basis for the preparation of land management recommendations for action in the future. The research was conducted at Rubber Plantation Block B Rubber Faculty of Agriculture, Sriwijaya University Indralaya. Survey methods used in this study is an intensive level survey method with the help of a map of the location-scale 1: 10,000and pangamatan map scale 1: 3600 with an area of 23 ha study site. Determination of point observations and soil sampling done by the grid system. The number of observation points as much as 15 points, each point of observation has an area of 1.5ha. Each 1.5 ha of land will be taken two soil samples for laboratory analysis. Asample for analysis of organic matter and sand content, while a next sample foranalysis only sand levels. Thus obtained 30 soil samples. The study results showed that soil organic matter content in the field studysite was classified as (3.6 - 5), high (5.1 - 8.1), to very high (> 8.5). Levels of sand ata depth of 0 - 30 cm on average had higher levels of sand by 62% at every point, while the levels of sand at a depth of 31 - 60 cm on average had higher levels of sandby 56%.
